Close to IIT Chennai, Madhya Kailash Temple is a famous Hindu temple located in the south of the city. Venkata Ananda Vinayakar is the main deity of the temple and the shrine is encircled by Lord Shiva, Surya, Devi and Vishnu. On Vinayaka Chaturthi, sunrays fall directly on the presiding deity which is considered highly auspicious by one and all. The most unique aspect of this temple is the Adhyantha Prabhu idol which is uniquely carved in such a way that the right side of the idol is that of Lord Ganesh and the left side of the idol is of Lord Hanuman. While you are here, do not miss the famous eight bells here which represent the seven musical notes - Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni, Sa.
