Description

Adeeswar Temple is one of the most noted temples of Jainism in Chennai and is dedicated to Shri Rishabhadev (Adi Bhagvan). Adeeswar temple was constructed in the early 1st century BC. Legend says that Valluvar who resided in Mylapore was the first to observe the temple. However, some scholars debate that the temple was built in either 4th or 5th century. Also known as the Polai temple by some locals, it has various references from Tamil literature. The temple is located close to the Redhill Lake on the Grand Trunk Road (which was recently constructed), a reason why now a lot of people have started visiting this temple.
