Description

Dating back to the 7th century, Kapaleeshwar Temple is a fine example of Dravidian architecture. Dedicated to Lord Shiva and Parvati (who is worshipped in the form of Karpagambal - Goddess of the Wishing Tree), the temple is a marvel of beauty and architecture. There are two entrances to the temples with a gopuram (tower-like) on both the sides. Inside the temple, the shrines are seated on a chariot. Many pilgrims come here just to pull the vehicle and consider this action as auspicious. Every Friday, Karpagambal is honoured with a gold coin garland.
