Description

Constructed in 1678, Kalikambal is primarily a Hindu temple and dedicated to Goddess Kalikambal, also known as Kamakshi (another form of Goddess Parvati) and Lord Kamateswarar. There is a placard and picture of Shivaji inside the temple as incidentally this is where the great warrior Shivaji used to pray in 1677. During the festival of Brahmotsavam, an embellished idol of Goddess Kalikambal on a magnificent chariot with metal cymbals is taken out for procession and thousands of people join the celebrations.
